Friends of Music

The mission of the Friends of Music is to enrich the life of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and the broader community through the promotion of music to the glory of God.

The beauty of holiness and the holiness of beauty ignites in us a holy adoration of God’s own splendor and glory, inspiring us to live a deeper life in Christ, a more holy communion with one another, and a greater love for the world.

The Friends of Music supports this mission by sponsoring performances by renowned ensembles and solo artists in our beautiful sacred space. In addition, it empowers the St. Mark’s Choir to perform sacred choral masterworks which exceed the normal bounds of the St. Mark’s rich liturgical life.

The Friends of Music supports the Music Ministry in many ways:

  • It assists the Director of Music Ministry in the planning of an annual schedule of events by building a community of support that works as a mutual ministry.
  • It works in collaboration with the St. Mark’s staff to promote, prepare, and execute events, including receptions.
  • It solicits financial donations to support events that exceed the normal operating budget of the Parish.

How can I be a Friend of Music?

Volunteer to help host special events – ticket desk, ushering, back-of-house, refreshment stand, etc.

Consider supporting the Friends of Music above and beyond your pledge to the Parish. Gifts to the Friends of Music at St. Mark’s will allow us to do more. Donors are acknowledged in the printed programs of events sponsored by the Friends. Give here.

Your support and assistance, in whatever form, is be profoundly appreciated.

How do I let someone know that can help?

Send an email to Ned Tipton, the Director of Music Ministries or call him at (203) 966-4515, ex. 113.
