Advent Wreathmaking

November 29th – 11:15AM – Morrill Hall

We invite families and friends to join us for Advent Wreathmaking on the last Sunday of November and the first Sunday of Advent. Gather with us in Morrill Hall following the 10:00 AM service to create an Advent wreath for your home.

We provide the wire wreath form, evergreens, and four candles—three purple and one rose. You, your family, and friends create the rest!

The Advent wreath reflects the hope and promises of the season. Its circular shape, with no beginning and no end, represents God’s eternal and unending love, while the evergreen branches symbolize everlasting life and hope even through the darkness of winter.

The four outer candles mark the four weeks of Advent, traditionally reflecting the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. At St. Mark’s, we use three purple candles, with a rose candle marking the joyful third Sunday of Advent.

Please note: Traditionally, a white Christ Candle may be placed at the center of the wreath and lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the coming of Christ. The Christ Candle is part of our church adornment each Christmas season, and we invite you to consider adding this meaningful tradition to your Advent wreath at home.
