SUMMARY:Guest Preacher: The Rev. Mary E. Haddad
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Guest Preacher: The Rev. Mary E. Haddad\n\nThe Rev. Mary Haddad\, born and raised in Canada\, engaged in many professions before going to work for the church in 1992. She was a radio show producer\, TV production assistant for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation\, publicist and concert manager for a university School of Music\, owner and operator of a French café\, and was even a Toyota car salesperson of the year—in Detroit\, of all places! \nShe ventured into church work when she was hired as sexton and verger at an Episcopal church in Los Angeles\, where she spent five years before being sent off to General Theological Seminary in New York\, graduating and then being ordained in 2000. \nShe subsequently served as senior associate at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York\, Canon Pastor at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco\, Interim Rector at All Saints’ Beverly Hills\, and frequent teacher and preacher on Hawaii’s Big Island and Maui. In her last full-time post\, she served as Cathedral Canon at the American Cathedral in Paris\, France\, where she oversaw the creation of a meditation community. She has co-led annual meditation and yoga retreats to Greece since 2018. \nIn 2022\, Mary retired from full-time work\, taking her passions beyond the walls\, leading meditation pop-ups on Zoom\, and becoming a spiritual life coach and conseillère de vie. She continues to stay connected with the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe\, serving on the mission team for St. Nino’s in Tbilisi\, Georgia. After taking a trip around the world in 2023–2024 to mark a milestone birthday\, she worked as an official volunteer for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and again for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Mary resides in Paris and preaches regularly in churches around France.

SUMMARY:Advent Wreathmaking
DESCRIPTION:Advent Wreathmaking\nNovember 29th – 11:15AM – Morrill Hall\n\nWe invite families and friends to join us for Advent Wreathmaking on the last Sunday of November and the first Sunday of Advent. Gather with us in Morrill Hall following the 10:00 AM service to create an Advent wreath for your home. \nWe provide the wire wreath form\, evergreens\, and four candles—three purple and one rose. You\, your family\, and friends create the rest! \nThe Advent wreath reflects the hope and promises of the season. Its circular shape\, with no beginning and no end\, represents God’s eternal and unending love\, while the evergreen branches symbolize everlasting life and hope even through the darkness of winter. \nThe four outer candles mark the four weeks of Advent\, traditionally reflecting the themes of Hope\, Peace\, Joy\, and Love. At St. Mark’s\, we use three purple candles\, with a rose candle marking the joyful third Sunday of Advent. \nPlease note: Traditionally\, a white Christ Candle may be placed at the center of the wreath and lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the coming of Christ. The Christ Candle is part of our church adornment each Christmas season\, and we invite you to consider adding this meaningful tradition to your Advent wreath at home.
