DESCRIPTION:The New Canaan Men’s Club was founded in 1977 by a group of men who met regularly at the Y to play racquetball. \nWhile we have grown quite a bit since then\, friendship and fellowship remain core to our Club. We meet on Friday mornings in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church\, but we are both nonreligious and nonpartisan. \nOur Members come from New Canaan and surrounding communities. They bring diverse experiences from their careers\, talents\, travels\, and lives. What brings us together is the variety of activities and interests Club Members share. This series\, led by the clergy of St. Mark’s\, introduces that tradition to anyone new to St. Mark’s\, curious about what Episcopalians believe and practice\, or interested in Confirmation or Reception. \nThe Bible in The Episcopal Church (April 29)\nScripture is at the center of our worship and theology. This session explores how the biblical canon came to be\, what it means to call these writings the Word of God\, and how Episcopalians read Scripture alongside reason and the church’s living tradition. \nBaptism and Eucharist: The Sacramental Life of the Church (May 6)\nThe two great sacraments are the foundation of the church’s life. This session traces Baptism and Eucharist from their origins in the ancient church to their place in Episcopal worship today\, and explores what it means to gather around the altar as the body of Christ. \nEpiscopal Identity and History: Who We Are and Where We Came From (May 13)\nThe Anglican tradition emerged from the English Reformation and\, through it\, from the ancient church. Elizabeth in the Church on Thursdays from 12:15-12:45 for a brief reflection\, instruction\, and 20-minutes of group Centering Prayer. \nCentering Prayer is a Christian silent practice of releasing thoughts as they come\, regardless of content\, during a period of 20 minutes. The fruit of the practice is a deeper level of awareness of God’s indwelling presence\, and spending time resting in that presence. This practice of ‘self-emptying’ (Philippians 2-11) aligns us with the self-emptying love that forms the core of Jesus’s own self-understanding and way of life. \nNo need to sign up. DESCRIPTION:The New Canaan Men’s Club was founded in 1977 by a group of men who met regularly at the Y to play racquetball. \nWhile we have grown quite a bit since then\, friendship and fellowship remain core to our Club. We meet on Friday mornings in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church\, but we are both nonreligious and nonpartisan. \nOur Members come from New Canaan and surrounding communities. They bring diverse experiences from their careers\, talents\, travels\, and lives. What brings us together is the variety of activities and interests Club Members share. Explore our website and calendar to see the many and varied activities that are available to all Members. Each Friday meeting has a speaker covering an interesting and often timely topic so we are constantly learning

We’re rolling up our sleeves to clean up the beds\, get them ready for planting\, and put the first vegetables in the ground. \nThe Gospel Garden grows organic produce that is 100% donated to the New Canaan Food Pantry and Person-to-Person in Darien — two organizations facing growing demand. In one of the wealthiest counties in America\, food insecurity is a real and rising problem: many families struggle to afford nutritious food as grocery and housing costs climb\, and federal food assistance is being cut for tens of thousands of Connecticut families who depend on it. \nNo experience needed — just bring yourself (and your family or friends). This is hands-on work that makes a real difference.
