DESCRIPTION:This fall\, join Father John and Emma for Mondays with Marley & Other Prophets Who Rock. An exploration of some of the most spiritually\, theologically\, and biblically inspired artists in popular music. Together we will listen\, read\, and discuss how the word of God has been proclaimed in surprising places and through surprising voices across the 20th and 21st centuries. \nArtists we will explore include: \n\nBob Marley\nPeter Tosh\, and other reggae greats\nAretha Franklin\, Billie Holiday\, and Mahalia Jackson\nBob Dylan\, Joan Baez\, Johnny Cash\, and June Carter\nLeonard Cohen\, George Harrison\, and Cat Stevens\nLenny Kravitz and U2\nTaylor Swift\, Regina Spektor\, and Kendrick Lamar\n\nCurated playlists and short video lectures will be shared in advance of each session to enrich our conversations. This series is a fun variation on last year’s Mondays with Merton. \nSchedule\nMondays\, October 6 – November 24 (no class October 20)\n7:00–8:15 PM | St. Mark’s Library\nA full syllabus will be available ahead of time. \nRegistration is encouraged but not required.
