Jr. and Sr. High Youth Groups
Total-Chaos-in-the-Name-of-the Lord-Amen is a brand-new youth ministry at St. Mark’s which focuses on the particular interests of 6th and 7th graders. Accordingly, this group seeks to nurture Christian bonds of peace (Ephesians 4) by having FUN in a safe, non-competitive, and affirming setting. Total-Chaos-in-the-Name-of-the Lord-Amen meets weekly on Sunday mornings for games, service projects, prayer, and meal.
We will meet at 4pm on Sundays, and the young people are encouraged to stay for the 5pm Eucharist and 5:30 Snack Supper.
Confirmation- (8th grade at minimum)
Sundays 11:30-am-1pm
Confirmation is the rite by which we make a mature public committment to the responsibilities of Christian baptism through the laying-on of hands by a bishop in the apostolic tradition. This rite usually occurs in mid-May, but the preparation of confirmands is a year-long program in which each confirmand participates in a weekly class and meets regularly with an adult lay person known as a "confirmation mentor."
Sr. High Youth Group (9-12th grade)
Sundays 5-7pm
The Sr. High Youth Group is integral to the mission and ministry of St. Mark’s Church. The aim of the Sr. High youth program is to be a safe, affirming community of young people who dedicate themselves to Jesus Christ and to one another through prayer, service, and fellowship. Toward that end we play, pray, and eat together weekly. We also gather regularly to volunteer at the New Canaan Food Bank, the St. Mark’s Gospel Garden, and Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, the Sr. High Youth Group travels on mission trips, retreats, pilgrimages, and just-for-fun trips.
