New Stock Transaction Procedures

We are pleased to announce that we are changing how gifts of stock to St. Mark’s are handled. The revisions in these procedures will result in higher net dollars coming to the Church. With these changes, there is a significant reduction in commissions and transfer costs that impact the amount of money St. Mark’s actually receives.

 

Effective immediately, we are working with The Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut and process stock transactions through their account in Hartford. There are a number of parishes within the diocese that are currently using this system.

 

TO MAKE THIS NEW SYSTEM WORK, IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE PARISH OFFICE BE ADVISED THAT A STOCK TRANSACTION IS BEING INITIATED. Call Dick DePatie, Parish Administrator, or Nadia Cwiach, Financial Secretary, when you decide to make a stock gift to St. Mark’s, at (203) 966-4515, and give the name of the stock and the number of shares being donated.

Remember we are trying to maximize your gift to St. Mark’s and appreciate your cooperation by following these steps carefully:

 

1.   After you have decided to make a stock gift to St. Mark’s, notify your broker AND St. Mark’s Parish Office what you are gifting to the Church (name of stock and number of shares.)

2.   Your broker will notify Merrill Lynch, Hartford, with the pertinent information and the stock will be sold.

3.   The Diocese will monitor the transaction and report back to St. Mark’s. Merrill Lynch, Hartford, will send the proceeds of the sale of the stock through the Diocese to us.
