Letter from the Reverend Peter Walsh

Dear people of St. Mark’s:

It is with great excitement that I accept your Godly call to be the Rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.  I am thankful for God’s providence and for the caring support of all involved in the discernment process, in particular the members of the Search Committee, the Vestry, and the Diocesan staff.  I look forward to meeting everyone and I have no doubt that together in mutual ministry St. Marks’ will continue to flourish.

My family and I are eager to move to New Canaan.  My wife, Jennifer, is a stay-at-home mother.  We have five children.  In the fall, Sam (19) will be a Gap Year Fellow at King’s Academy in Amman, Jordan; Ben (17), a senior at St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire; Olivia (15), a freshman at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts; Gus (13), a seventh grader at Eaglebrook School also in Massachusetts; and Phineas (6) will be a first grader at one of the New Canaan elementary schools.  All our relatives live in New England, and with my brother in Greenwich, and my sister in Rye (almost New England!), we feel as though we are moving home.

During the next two months my family and I will end our time at All Saints’ Episcopal Church and Day School in Phoenix, move to New Canaan, and vacation.  I look forward to starting in the office on August 11th.  In the meantime you will be in my prayers.

Faithfully and with best wishes,

The Reverend Peter F. Walsh+

Rector-Elect
