Rick Hamlin is the executive editor of Guideposts, one of the top twenty monthly magazines in America with a circulation over two and a half million. Founded by Norman Vincent Peale over 60 years ago, it carries stories of hope and inspiration. In the course of his career at Guideposts, Rick has written hundreds of articles for the magazine and edited even more. His memoir, Finding God on the A Train (HarperSanFrancisco), was a Book of the Month Club alternate selection and a selection of One Spirit Book Club. He has also published three novels, most recently Reading Between the Lines (Simon Schuster). A popular speaker, he has addressed many different groups and churches. He and his wife, Carol, both graduated from Princeton University. They are members of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in New York City and are the parents of two boys. Writer Kathryn Slattery is a longtime Contributing Editor for Guideposts magazine, for which she has written hundreds of stories of faith and inspiration. She is
also the author of several books, the most recent, Lost & Found: One Daughter’s Story of Amazing Grace (2008), was selected by Family Circle as Book of the Month for March. Lost & Found tells the story of a mother and daughter – two very different people – struggling with the clash of their independent personalities and their eventual understanding of and reconciliation with each other. The author of If I Could Ask God Anything, and The Gospel for Kids, Kathryn’s writings have also appeared in numerous “best of” Guideposts anthologies and Today’s Christian Woman Magazine. Kathryn resides in New Canaan with her husband of more than 25 years, Tom. They are the parents of two adult children and happy owners of a roly-poly pug named Max. Copies of their books will be available in The Den beginning on September 7th. This event will take place at 4 pm in the Library or Morrill Hall depending on the numbers, and a small reception will be held afterwards outside the bookstore.
