Christ is alive and so is St. Mark’s.
Just take a look the most recent ROAR or the enclosed Ministry & Money fact sheet. You will see a parish alive in the Spirit. You will see that, together with our Lord, we make a great church.
I have many dreams for our congregation and one of them is that we will spend less time talking about money and more time doing ministry. I bet you share this wish. So, there is one thing you can do for your parish: make a gracious, generous, and timely pledge now. Do it for your Lord. Do it for your parish. Do it for yourself. Remember the prayer of St. Francis, “It is in giving that we receive.” I am convinced that together we have the abundance needed to fully empower the ministry.
The leadership of the parish wants to make it easy for you to pledge. You can fill out the enclosed card or find one at coffee hour; you can call the Parish Administrator, Dick DePatie; or you can pledge/pay online. Please make it easy on your brothers and sisters in Christ who give so much of themselves to oversee stewardship campaigns and ministry budgets.
Also, come to a Village Visit at the Rectory. Jennifer and I cannot wait for you to see the house. We all love it when we get together. This gathering is not a guilt-ridden hard sell. It is an opportunity for us to be together to have fun and to talk about our life together. It is also a great time to bring your questions and thoughts to the Rector and Senior Warden. In addition, we will have some initial sketches of the Center for Ministry.
So, please take time to stop and make a pledge now for 2016. Please come to a Village Visit. And, please pray for your parish. If you do this, you will find it most soul satisfying.
The Reverend Peter F. Walsh
