Invitation to Feasibilitiy Focus Groups

Dear People of St. Mark’s,

The Gospel according to John concludes its witness to the power of God in Christ with, “There are…many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”

I feel like John proclaiming the Gospel according to St. Mark’s Church:  There are so many holy things happening here at St. Mark’s that if they were all written down, our publications could not contain the Spirit of all that would be written.  Yet I want to proclaim all that is happening here because, like the Gospel, it points toward a reality that borders on the miraculous – the Holy Spirit has unleashed an energy at St. Mark’s that is transforming our community.  It is real: It is fun.  The Holy Spirit is contagious and people are catching it.  Just walk into the Church on a Sunday morning; read the Master Plan Progress Report or The Roar; look at the web page or the weekly e-blasts.  They all point to the excitement of being a member of St. Mark’s Church in New Canaan, Connecticut.

In order to further energize the mission and ministry of this community, we are planning a Capital Endowment & Annual Pledge Campaign in 2010.  Knowledge is power and we want you to be an empowered “know-it-all.”   So please come to one of the focus groups that are scheduled in November and December.  The schedule is on the bottom of this page.  These sessions will be limited to 25 people so that everyone will have a chance to speak if they so choose.  The focus groups are for gathering information and for giving feedback so that together we can discern, validate, clarify, and energize the priorities that have emerged from the work of the Master Plan thus far.  The meetings will last one hour.  If you have children that need to be watched, come on a Sunday morning and there will be sitters for your kids so that you can sit in peace and participate in the conversation.

Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20, 21

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Maranatha,

The Reverend Peter Walsh, Rector
