Stages and Ages of Spiritual Transformation
Stages and Ages of Spiritual Transformation is a 7-session Saturday/Sunday Series, featuring guest speakers on the spiritual life of children, adolescents, young adults, those in middle age, and elders. Saturday workshops meet in our library from 9-11am (9am for refreshments, 9:30 for discussion); Sunday classes meet in Morrill Hall from 9-9:45am. Our guest speakers will also preach on Sunday mornings. Come to one or both. Childcare is provided for all sessions.

The Rev. Timothy Jones is Senior Associate Rector of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Nashville, TN. He is the author of several acclaimed books on the spiritual life, including The Art of Prayer: A Simple Guide to Conversation with God; Awake My Soul, Practical Spirituality for Busy People; Workday Prayers; and Nurturing a Child’s Soul. He served as general editor of the Spiritual Formation Bible and compiled and edited a book of unpublished writings of the late Henri Nouwen, entitled Turn My Mourning into Dancing. Timothy is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and the School of Theology. He also recently served as a leader of a campus ministry through St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He and his wife, the Rev. Canon Jill Zook-Jones, are the parents of three children.

The Rev. F. Washington “Tony” Jarvis is an Episcopal priest who served from 1974 to 2004 as headmaster of The Roxbury Latin School in Boston. Earlier, from 1964 to 1971, he was curate at St. Paul’s Church in Cleveland, where he conducted a city-wide youth ministry. His most recent book, With Love and Prayers, a collection of forty addresses to students, won the Christopher Award for adult non-fiction. He is a frequent speaker on “The Deepest Needs of Teenagers and Twenty-Somethings” at international conferences. A graduate of St. Mark’s School and Harvard College, he holds an M.A. from Cambridge University and an S.T.B. from the Episcopal Theological School. He holds honorary doctorates from Bowdoin College and Middlebury College.

The Rev. Jane Sigloh was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Connecticut and served as a parish minister until 1998. In her “retirement” she is a teacher, preacher, and story keeper. Her recently published book, Like Trees Walking is a series of meditations about growing old with grace and good humor. Ms. Sigloh lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with her husband where the two of them are laborers in a small home vineyard. Jane received an undergraduate degree from Sweet Briar College, a Masters in English and Creative Writing from Hollins University, and a Masters in Divinity from Yale Divinity School.

A writer, media producer and an Episcopal priest, Lisa’s three books are Wisdom From the Middle Ages for Middle-Aged Women, Prayers to the God of My Life: Psalms for Morning and Evening, and For Those We Love But See No Longer: Daily Offices for Times of Grief. Her articles have appeared in The Christian Century, Episcopal Life, Spirituality & Health, Journal of Biblical Storytelling, Redbook, Family Circle and Women Alive as well as on numerous websites, including www.explorefaith.org. Lisa wrote and directed the dvd series Pioneers of the Spirit. (This series was used at St. Mark’s in a mystics class three years ago.) Subjects in the series include Augustine of Hippo, Hildegard of Bingen, Dante, Julian of Norwich, Ignatius of Loyola and William Blake. Lisa has written, produced and promoted for a variety of media, including CBS, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, NPR, Episcopal Life Media, and Trinity Wall Street.

Sharon Pearson is the Christian formation specialist at Church Publishing, Inc. She has over 30 years experience in Christian formation at the parish, diocesan, provincial and church-wide level. Active in the National Association for Episcopal Christian Education Directors (NAECED), she is a regular contributor to Episcopal Teacher magazine and has had articles published in Episcopal Life, Vestry Papers, Religious Products magazine and several academic religious journals. Sharon provides an e-newsletter for Church Publishing, Living IN-Formation, and is the architect of buildfaith.org, a comprehensive website for Christian formation leaders. She is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary and Hartford Seminary.
